And he shall speak great words against the most High, ...and think to change times and laws:" Daniel 7:25

"The authority of the church could therefore not be bound to the authority of the Scriptures, because the Church had changed the Sabbath into Sunday, not by command of Christ, but by its own authority." Canon and Tradition, p. 263

"Is not every Christian obliged to sanctify Sunday and to abstain on that day from unnecessary servile work? Is not the observance of this law among the most prominent of our sacred duties? But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify." -James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers (1917 ed.), pp. 72, 73.

"The Catholic church," declared Cardinal Gibbons, "by virtue of her divine mission changed the day from Saturday to Sunday." Catholic Mirror Sept. 23 1983. (Official organ of Cardinal Gibbons)

Question - Which is the Sabbath day?
Answer - Saturday is the Sabbath day.
Question - Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
Answer - We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday." The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50, 3rd ed.

"The Bible says, Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day. The Catholic church says, No! By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day, and command you to keep the first day of the week. And lo, the entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic church!" Father Enright, C.S.S.R. of the Redemptoral College, Kansas City, History of the Sabbath, p. 802

"Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever  did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed  from Saturday to Sunday. "The day of the Lord" was chosen, not from any  direction noted in the Scriptures, but from the Church's sense of its own power .... People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole  authority, should logically become Seventh-day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy." (Saint Catherine Church Sentinel, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995.)

"Sunday is a Catholic institution and its claim to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles .... From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first." (Catholic Press, Sydney, Australia, August, 1990.)

The Almighty says in the Old Testament...

Exodus 20:8-11, "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."

He then says in the New Testament...

Hebrews 4:4,8,9 "For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God."

You may be wondering why it is so important that we keep the Sabbath? The importance of the Sabbath has to deal with "who we will choose to obey." The Lord commands that we worship Him on the Sabbath. The Devil under the authority of the Roman Catholic church says we should worship on Sunday. I ask, "Why is the devil attacking the Sabbath?"

The Bible speaks of a mark that will be enforced directly before the second coming of Jesus Christ.  The word "MARK" as it is expounded upon in the "American Heritage Electronic Thesaurus" comes with numerous variations to the word. For example, the words, "evidence,  sign,  witness, symbol,  indicator, stamp, token, signification, label, seal, brand, and imprint" can all be used alternatively  just as easy.

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." Revelation 13:16,17

Why is this mark so important, and what are the actual features of a mark? Have you ever signed a document to validate or confirm that it is authentic? Have you ever given your "seal of approval" on something? Have you ever "marked" an item of yours as proof of ownership? In government, this is a fact of life. As we know, signing a document actually authenticates that document. An official seal or signature always has three distinct features:

  •  (1) The name of the official
  •  (2) The title
  •  (3) The territory

So when the President of the United States signs a bill into law, he will sign it, 1.Name "Bill Clinton" 2.Title "President" 3.Territory "of the United States of America" EVERY document must be signed or sealed in this manner for it to be an official legal document.

There is a government in heaven,(Isaiah 9:6) and God's legal document is His Law, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS! Look in the midst of the Commandments and you'll find the Seal of God! "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, ...." Exodus 20:11

(1) HIS NAME = THE LORD ("I am the Lord: that is my name"Isaiah 42:8)

(2) HIS TITLE = CREATOR (Notice, "the LORD made" in above verse)

(3) HIS TERRITORY = HEAVEN AND EARTH (Notice, "Heaven and earth" in above verse)

Without getting into too much detail, one can see that the "seal" or "Sabbath" of God is actually an "image" of His authority as Creator. When we keep His Sabbath we are expressing that we recognize and worship Him as our Creator. And as you can see it's no wonder the devil would try to attack the Sabbath. The devil wants to be worshipped and recognized as a god. Did not Lucifer say in his heart that he would be like the most High?  "...O Lucifer...For thou hast said in thine heart... I will be like the most High." Isaiah 14:12,13,14

TO REMEMBER THY WORKS!  SPECIAL NOTE:

Adam and Eve were created at the close of the SIXTH DAY. There very first act as human beings/ mankind was to WORSHIP THE LORD ON HIS SABBATH! Picture this... The world and all the Universe was just created. Adam and Eve are now finally created and given dominion over all that was created. Immediately the Sabbath arrives. The Lord Sanctifies the Sabbath day, (sets it apart for holy use) And Adam and Eve worship the Lord on the very first Sabbath REMEMBERING ALL that He just did the previous six days! They are worshiping Him as well as thanking Him FOR CREATING THEM and all that they see about them! Are we suppose to FORGET such an awesome Truth as this?

Seeing how God has already SEALED the true Sabbath as His Sign, or "mark". The devil's only recourse is to "counterfeit" his own sabbath as a sign, or mark of dominion as a god! It's really very easy to spot. In Exodus 31:13 we see the Lord God telling us that, "Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations." This verse allows us to realize why the devil's been working so hard at hiding the truth about the Sabbath. It's God's sign! It's God's seal of approval! It's God's mark of ownership!

(Interesting Fact is... there were only TWO institutions created by the Lord for mankind. Marriage & The Sabbath. BOTH were created BEFORE man fell in the Garden of Eden. Now do you see why the devil attacks both the Sabbath AND marriages?)

Notice this

THE NAME IN SABBATH

In the word "Sabbath" is found "Seal of the Father'
Two words: SAB and BATH

Root of Sab = Ab = Father
SAB = Learned Master
SAHIB = Revered Sir

Root of ATH = OTH = SIGN
Prefix "B" indicated DWELLING PLACE (as in Bethlehem - dwelling or house or bread.)

SABBATH = THE DWELLING PLACE OF THE SIGN OR THE SEAL OF THE FATHER

The Sabbath ... a sign that

1. God as our creator
2. God is our Sanctifier
3. God is our rest or peace
4. We are his people
5. We keep his commandments

Also notice that the word "SABBATH" has the name Jesus used as a term of endearment towards His Father. In the midst of the word Sabbath we find ABBA. SABBATH.

Jesus Christ taught us that we should keep his Sabbaths after he died in Matthew 24:20 Notice this prophecy that was fulfilled 40 years AFTER Jesus died and resurrected...

Matthew 24:15,16,20
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:"

HISTORIC FACT IS...

In A.D.66 when Cestius came against the city, but unaccountably withdrew, the Christians discerned in this the sign foretold by Christ, and fled while 1,100,000 Jews are said to have been killed in the terrible siege in A.D. 70. (The attack of the Roman warrior Titus occurred in 70AD killing the 1,100,000 Jews) Eusebius, Church History, book 3, chap. 5

The Christians living at the time Cestius came against the city and withdrew understood exactly what was happening. They remembered the prophecy Jesus made in Matthew 24:15,16 and fled to the mountains before the Roman army returned. Could it be Cestius was "casing the joint" as we say in today's lingo? For whatever reason, the Lord saw fit to warn His children in advance of this day and they glorified Him by believing and fleeing as He suggested they should. As the history book records we see that the non-believing Jews saw no danger when Cestius stopped by. And because they chose to deny Jesus and ignore His prophecy, they paid for their disbelief with their very lives! 1,100,000 men woman and children DIED that day!!!! They could have all been SAVED had they just believed in this one mere prophecy! Think about today and all the prophecies that have been fulfilled over the years. What an honor, to be loved so deeply by the Almighty Creator that He would warn us in advance. The main point being of course in this situation is we do see that the prophecy WAS fulfilled, and Jesus did proclaim they would STILL be keeping sabbath AFTER the cross. 40 YEARS afterwards! So..if the Sabbath was supposedly changed BY Jesus Christ as many assume, WHY did Jesus proclaim here it wouldn't be?

I found the easiest way to detect the mark of the beast is to find out what the seal of God is, then you'll know the "mark" is the exact opposite. This method works for all truth in God's Word. Prime example, is the truth of salvation at the cross of Jesus. The devil will always attack what he fears the most. Have you ever noticed the inverted crosses of the Satanist? Their blatant hatred of the truth has proven its authenticity by their foolish actions of fear towards it. It's a fact, whatever angers or frightens the devil is always categorical proof that it is of God.

"And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads." Revelation 7:2,3

As some of us already know, psychologists who mapped the human brain some years ago tell us that the frontal lobe of the cerebrum, which in layman's terms is the forehead, this is where functions like decisions, judgments, and free will are made. So, it's obvious that after the Law of God is put in our hearts when we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we are sealed by God when we make the free will decision to obey Jesus as our Lord even when difficult decisions have to be made so as to stay in His will and this included when matters of life or death are presented before us as they soon will be forced upon us when they enforce the mark in the coming days.

Having our minds sealed to obey Him in such times, or as the prophecy of Revelation 12:11 puts it, we are obedient even unto death.

Reading into verse 11 we read Revelation 12:10-11  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.  (11)  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

When His law is in our hearts and we are sealed in our foreheads this then causes our lives to be affected by His doctrine, teachings, and most important, His COMMANDMENTS. Also notice that God's seal is only received in the forehead, not in the hand as well. The hand represents being forced against our will to do something. (See Jeremiah 38:23) Jesus will never force Himself on us. He prefers we choose to worship Him of our own free will. In the revolt of Heaven, two thirds of Heaven made the right choice. However, one third made the sinful choice and fell. Even our first Parents had to deal with choice. Just as the forbidden fruit in Eden was a choice, so is the forbidden mark of the beast a choice. BOTH choices have a "life or death" consequence.

"And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." Revelation 13:15-17

In this verse we now see the mark of the beast being received in the forehead AND in the hand! As we know, Jesus will never force His will upon His children. On the contrary, here it is evident the beast will. The "hand" represents work here. For it is written in Ecclesiastes 9:10  Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Some will be forced into giving up their "livelihood" or "work" which in turn causes them to be unable to "buy or sell" unless they accept the mark. And yes, this is why they're testing this demand of Satan with the so-called vaccine mandates. The leaders of the world are doing exactly as Satan needs them to do so as to enforce the mark. Kinda like a bit of "religious extortion" for lack of a better word. So, in effect, they are "forced" into accepting the mark simply because they don't want to lose their ability to have those things they "worked" so hard for in life. They actually choose material things over eternal life in this matter. And that is one deadly mistake!

Since we understand that making a decision to accept Jesus as Savior, and accepting His teachings as the perfect path in life, which is the same as being sealed or marked in the forehead by Jesus as one who is saved. We must also understand, that accepting the doctrines, teachings, or traditions of the Roman Catholic church or any other churches that follow these beliefs, would mean we accept the mark of the beast. Also understand there will be those that aren't Catholic or even Christian. But they will do as the beast commands for fear of death, or loss of their livelihood from not being able to buy or sell anything unless he or she had the mark. Which is actually making the decision to accept the demands of the beast. These will be those who receive the mark in the hand because they were forced against their will. The true Catholic or any other Christian that accepts these "doctrines of men" will have received the mark in the forehead because they already made the free will decision that their church is correct in replacing Scriptures to match "traditions" or "doctrines of men." And this was prophetically warned...

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Summing it up... If you receive the "mark" by choice, this means you've been marked in the forehead. If you're forced to receive the mark, it will be that you're marked "in the right hand." But REMEMBER, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Matthew 16:25

When it comes to the mark of the beast. Without realizing, the Catholic church makes both a prophetic and blasphemous boast as well as undeniable LINK by the following confession.

"Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change (Saturday Sabbath to Sunday) was her act... And the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things." H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons.

"Sunday is our MARK or authority. . .the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact" Catholic Record of London, Ontario Sept 1,1923.

So, if the prophecy is correct in saying that Sunday keeping is acceptance of the authoritative MARK OF THE BEAST. And the Scriptures verify that God says... "my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your  generations" Exodus 31:18

Plus we also understand that the words: SIGN... MARK... SEAL... ARE ALL SYNONYMOUS. I challenge everyone reading this document to keep their eyes open and watch as God's final prophecies come to be! God Almighty is no dime store psychic! When he says something is going to happen...
It will happen!

We now have Scriptural facts the Sabbath is God's sign, seal, and mark. And Sunday is the "sign, seal, or mark of the beast. So...What's next...?  The devil will need to get people to worship as he stipulates so he can enforce his mark of authority.

During the Reagan administration, President Ronald Reagan, after much pressure, appointed an ambassador to VATICAN CITY! When W. Kenneth Dan was asked why we need an ambassador in Vatican City, He replied; "It would allow the USA to influence the political decisions of the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH!"

THIS LITERALLY VIOLATES THE FIRST AMENDMENT!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMENDMENT I.
Religious establishment prohibited...-Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;...

Do you suppose the the beast under the camouflage of the Roman Catholic church will be able to make good on its plans? Do you suppose the church is busy making sure it's views are made into law? Some say a church would never have that ability, no church could ever persude the government of a nation into passing laws that benefit its self satisfying agenda.

"This organization proposes in every possible way to aid in preserving Sunday as a civil institution. Our national security requires the active support of all good citizens in the maintenance of our American Sabbath. Sunday laws must be enforced." Quoted-"principles contained in the Constitution" (then called the American Sabbath Union),  The Lord's Day Alliance, Twenty fifth Report (1913), p6.

"In the fourth and fifth centuries, Sunday shows and Sunday theaters, it was complained, hindered the "devotion of the faithful," because many of the members attended them in preference to the church services. The church, therefore, demanded that the state interfere, and promote Sunday observance by law. "In this way, " Says Neander "the church received help from the state for the furtherence of her ends." This union of church and state served to establish the Papacy in power. A simular course pursued now will produce the same results." -AUGUSTUS NEANDER, General History of the Christian Religion and the Church, Torey translation (3rd American ed.), vol. 2, pp. 300,301

------------------------------

"On September 7, 1947, Pope Pius XII declared that "the time for reflection and planning is past in religious and moral fields and the time for action has arrived." He said "the battle in religious and moral fields hinged on five points: Religious culture, the sanctifying of Sunday, the saving of the Christian family, social justice, and loyalty and truthfulness in dealings" -Evening Star (Washington D.C.), Sept. 8, 1947.

It appears the Catholic church has been attempting to persuade the U.S. Government for many years to sanctify and make into law the observance of the first day of the week as their Sabbath. Is this something that can become Law of the Land ?

blue law- One of a body of laws in colonial New England designed to enforce certain moral standards. 2.Law designed to regulate Sunday activities. American Heritage Dictionary & Electronic Thesaurus

The fact is, in 1962 under the administration of it's FIRST Roman Catholic President, the United States of America did just that, they made strict observation of Sunday into LAW! All government angencies are officialy CLOSED on Sunday's. Many secular business's followed suit soon after. This also happens to be the year prayer was outlawed in schools. The Catholic church under the direction of the devil has played her part to the "T". The devil has had one advantage over us mortal beings. He has the advantage of ancient history. The fact is, the beast has been able to make his inventions in the Catholic church look sacred simply because they were enacted long before any of us were born. And as is always the case, many of us feel that the older the tradition, the more accepted they must be as holy. . "And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed." Revelation 13:14-15

Just as the true Sabbath of God Almighty is the image of His authority as Creator God. So is the false sabbath of the beast his image as destroyer antigod. The passing of the Sunday Law in 1962 is a preamble of what's to come. Keep in mind, the law was passed in 1962, but has it ever been enforced on man? No it hasn't. It has merely been an image of things to come. However, when the Union of Church and State is finalized and the First Amendment is no longer valid, you will discern what Revelation 13:15 speaks of. Disasters will occur around the world. Hoping to quench the problems, the Christians of the USA will cry out for a government that mimics that of the Vatican, and you will then see the "image of the beast" portrayed exactly as prophecy states. The Vatican is a church and state conglomerate, therefore, the USA will be as well. The Image of the Beast will have been given the prophetic life it needs to be enforced! It will have the Authority of the Law of the Land it requires to be quickened, and it will then be implemented as once before in the year 1610.

"Every man and woman shall repair in the morning to the divine service and sermons preached upon the Sabbath (Sunday), and in the afternoon to divine service, and catechizing, upon pain for the first fault to lose their provision and the allowance for the whole week following; for the second, to lose the said allowance and also be whipped; and for the third to suffer death."! Laws, and Orders, Divine, Politique, & Martial For the Colony in Virginia: established by Sir Gates, Knight, Lieutenant - General, the 24th of May, 1610

Is the stage set? Has the beast seen its final days as merely an image?

For years the issue of Church and State have been all over the media. Everything from issues dealing with prayer in schools, to violations due to Saint Patricks Day Parades in NewYork City. Does it appear we are being worn down? Is this not the method used by some to allow unjust laws to easily sneak through numerous doors? Are they getting to the point of exhausting those that would fight them? Soon the law will pass, and the first ammendment will be no more. The prophecy is truth in its purest form. The Almighty Creator spoke it! The curtain is indeed closing. Will the Catholic church play a part in "wearing down" those that fight to keep the seperation of church and state? The Catholic church has been immensely busy in swaying legislation toward it's own objective all along. The Pope thinks nothing of ignoring what is written on the pages of this nations constitution.

Is our first Ammendment being slowly fragmented to a point of non-existence? Is it not a fact that almost every aspect of infiltration has been realized all the way back to the day it was first enacted as law of the land? Is it obvious what the States church of choice will be? Soon we will no longer have the rights as citizens of the USA to worship God as He says we should. However, the Word of God is rather plain on this point. "We ought to obey God rather than men." Acts 5:29 Believe me when I tell you, I am not alone in knowing that the Sabbath was never Scripturally changed to Sunday. Many Christians as well as Ministers are very aware of the fact that the Bible has NOT ONE VERSE that establishes, demonstrates, proves, or even suggests, we should change the Sabbath to Sunday. The following excerpts from a few noted denominations actually proclaim the Sabbath was NEVER changed by the Creator God of the ages.

BAPTIST: "There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was not Sunday.... It will be said, however, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the seventh to the first day of the week.... Where can the record of such a transaction be found? Not in the New Testament~absolutely not. There is no scriptural evidence of the change of the Sabbath institution from the seventh to the first day of the week. "~Dt. Edward T. Hiscox, author of The B~itit Manual, in a paper read hefore a New York ministers' conference held Nov.13, 1893.

CATHOLIC: "You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line
authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we ICatholics] ne~r sanctify. "-james Cardinal Gibbons, The Fuidi ofGarFathers, 16th edition, 1880, p.111.

CHURCH OF CHRIST: "Finally, we have the testimony of Christ on this subject. In Mark 2:27, he says: 'The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.' From this passage it is evident that the Sabbath was made not merely for the Israelites, as Paley and Hengstenberg would have us believe, but for ..... that is, for the race. Hence we conclude that the Sabbath was sanctified from the beginning, and that it was given to Adam, even in Eden, as one of those primeval institutions that God ordained for the happiness of all men. "-Robert Milligan, Schetne of Redempiten, (St. Louis, The Fethany Press, 1962), p.165.

CONGREGATIONALIST: "The Christian Sabbath [Sunday] is not in the Scriptures, and was not by the primitive church called the Sabbath."-Dwight's Theology, Vol.4, p.401.

EPISCOPAL: "Sunday (Dies Solis, of the Roman calendar, 'day of the sun,' because dedicated to the sun), the first day of the week, was adopted by the early Christians as a day of worship. No regulations for its observance are laid down in the New Testament, nor, indeed, is its observance even enjoined."~"Sunday," A Religious Encyclopedia, Vol.3, (New York, Funk and Wagnalls, 1883) p.2259.

LUTHERAN: "The observance of the Lord's day [Sunday] is founded not on any command of God, but on the authority of the church,"-Augsbutg Confession of Faith, quoted in Cadzolc Sdbla~ Manual, Part 2, Chapter 1, Section 10.

METHODIST: "Take the matter of Sunday. There are indications in the New Testament as to how the church came to keep the first day of the week as its day of worship, but there is no passage telling Christians to keep that day, or to transfer the Jewish Sabbath to that day."-Harris Ft~nklin Fall, Chnstian Advocate, July 2,1942.

MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE: "The Sabbath was binding in Eden, and it has been in force ever since. This fourth commandment begins with the word 'remember,' showing that the Sabbath already existed when God wrote the law on the tables of stone at Sinai. How can men claim that this one commandment has been done away with when they will admit that the other nine are still binding ?"-D. L. Moody, Weighed and Wanting, p.47.

PRESBYTERIAN: "Until, therefore, it can be shown that the whole moral law has been repealed, the Sabbath will stand. ... The teaching of Christ confirms the perpetuity of the Sabbath."-T. C. Blake, D.D., Theology Condensed, pp. 474,475.

PENTECOSTAL: "'Why do we worship on Sunday? Doesn't the Bible teach us that
Saturday should be the Lord's Day?'...
Apparently we will have to seek the answer from some other source than the New Testament."-D5~~d A. Womack, "Is Sunday the Lord's Day?" The Pentecostal Evangel, Aug. 9,1959, No.2361, p.3.

ENCYCLOPEDIA: "Sunday was a name given by the heathen to the first day of the week, because it was the day on which they worshiped the sun, ... the seventh day was blessed and hallowed by God Himself, and... He requires His creatures to keep it holy to Him. This commandment is of universal and perpetual obligation." -Eudle's Biblical Cyclopedia, 1872 ed., p.561.

I did not write this newsletter to launch a national religious outcry to prevent the change of our nations highest law of the land. No, regardless if you try to stop it or not, it WILL happen. The prophecy MUST and WILL be fulfilled. The reason I wrote this document is because there are many TRUE Children of God within the ranks of these Sunday keeping Commandment breaking churches.  They need to get out while there is still time. It won't be long before the law is passed and it will become ILLEGAL to worship the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth upon the day He told us to REMEMBER as the seventh day of the week, the day He blessed, the day He hallowed, and the day He sanctified!  There is VERY LITTLE TIME LEFT!

Heed the warning while you still can.

"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." Revelation 18:4

This may be your FINAL WARNING...
PSALM 111:4   He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD [is]  gracious and full of compassion. And how should we remember what He has done? EXODUS 20:8,11    Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. PLEASE... Glorify Him with your faith in His Word.

ADDITIONAL PROOF THAT THE EARLY CHURCH KEPT THE REAL SABBATH

It is the contention of Rome that the early christians observed sunday as the new christian sabbath. The testimony of history tells a very different story.

"The first Christian church established at Jerusalem by apostolic authority became in its doctrine and practice a model for the greater part of those founded in the first century. . . . These Judaizing Christians were first known by the outside world as 'Nazarenes.'. . . All Christians agreed in celebrating the seventh day of the week in conformity to the Jewish converts." (History of the Christian Church, pp. 50, 51, 69).

"While the Jewish Christians of Palestine, who kept the whole Jewish law, celebrated of course all the Jewish festivals, the heathen converts observed only the Sabbath, and, in remembrance of the closing scenes of our Saviour's life, the Passover, though without the Jewish superstitions. Besides these, the Sunday, as the day of our Saviour's resurrection, was devoted to religious worship." (Church History, Apostolic Age to A.D. 70, Section 29)

"Have before thine eyes the fear of God, and always remember the ten commandments of God, - to love the one and only Lord God with all thy strength; to give no heed to idols, or any other beings, as being lifeless gods, or irrational beings or demons. Consider the manifold workmanship of God, which received its beginning through Christ. Thou shalt observe the Sabbath, on account of Him who ceased from His work of creation, but ceased not from His work of providence; it is a rest for meditation of the law, not for the idleness of the hands." (Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 7, p. 413, 1951 edition).

"There is another sect,. . . 'Hypsistarians,' that is, worshipers of the most high God, whom they worshiped as the Jews only in one person. And they observed their Sabbaths, and used distinction of their meats, clean and unclean, though they did not regard circumcision, as Gregory Nazianzen whose father was one of the sect, gives account of them." (Antiquities of the Christian Church, Book 16, Chapter 6, Section 2).

"We also find in ancient writers frequent mention made of religious assemblies on the Saturday, or seventh day of the week, which was the Jewish Sabbath. It is not easy to tell the original of this practice, nor the reasons for it ... I consider it here only as a day of public divine service ... Athanasius, who is one of the first that mentions it says: They met on the Sabbath, not that they were infected with Judaism, but to worship Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath (Antiquities of the Christian Church, Book 13, Chapter 9, Section 3)

"Likewise some meet both upon the Sabbath and upon the day after the Sabbath, as at Constantinople, and among almost all others. At Rome and Alexandria they do not. Among the Egyptians, likewise, in many cities and villages, there is also a sacred custom among all of meeting on the evening of the Sabbath, when the sacred mysteries are partaken of." (Ecclesiastical History of Sozomen, in The Nicene and Post Nicene Fathers, Book 7, Chapter 19).

"Centuries of the Christian era passed away before the Sunday was observed by the Christian church as the Sabbath. History does not furnish us with a single proof or indication that it was at any time so observed previous to the Sabbatical edict of Constantine in A.D. 321" (Examination of the Six Texts).

"The last day of the week was strictly kept in connection with that of the first day for a long time after the overthrow of the temple and its worship. Down even to the fifth century the observance of the Jewish Sabbath was continued in the Christian church, but with a rigor and solemnity gradually diminishing." (Ancient Christianity Exemplified, Chapter 26, Section 2)

"The Paulicians, Petrobusians, Passaginians, Waldenses, Insabbatati were great Sabbath keeping bodies of Europe down to 1250 A.D." (The Sabbath of God through the Centuries, Coltheart, 1954)

"In 1310 two hundred years before Luther's theses, the Bohemian brethren constituted one-fourth of the population of Bohemia, and that they were in touch with the Waldenses who abounded in Austria, Lombardy, Bohemia, north Germany, Thuringia, Brandenburg, and Moravia. Erasmus pointed out how strictly Bohemian Waldenses kept the seventh day Sabbath." (Armitage, A History of the Baptists, pg.313)

"The Waldenses took the bible as their only rule of faith, abhorred the idolatry of the papal church, and rejected their traditions, holidays, and even Sunday, but kept the seventh-day Sabbath, and used the Apostolic mode of baptism." (Facts of Faith, Christan Edwardson, pg. 21)

Ever Notice This?!? (NOW ON VIDEO)
The parable of the woman (woman = church see Jer. 6:2) with the "ten coins" who looses ONE of the coins is actually speaking of the end time Church and the ten commandments! And the ONE lost equals Commandment #4

Luke 15:8-9, "Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?  And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost."

Are you going to do as this "woman" does and rejoice and tell your friends. If so, then YOU are spoken of in PROPHECY! You will become a "REPAIRER OF THE BREACH!"

Isaiah 58:12, "And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in."

The end time Remnant Church has FOUND THAT COIN! And we are rejoicing by telling our "friends!"

It's Jewish
Uriah Smith (circa mid to late 1800's)
[Some words have been changed without changing the context or meaning.]

When we present G-d's holy law,
And arguments from scripture draw,
Objectors say, to pick a flaw,
'It's Jewish.'

Though at the first Most High blessed
And sanctified His day of rest,
The same belief is still expressed,
'It's Jewish.'

Though with the world this rest began,
And thence through all Scriptures ran,
And Yeshua said "'twas made for man"--
'It's Jewish.'

Though not with Jewish rites,
which passed,
But with the moral law 'twas classed,
Which must exist while time shall last,
'It's Jewish.'

If from the Bible we present
The Sabbath's meaning and intent,
This answers every argument--
'It's Jewish.'

Though the disciples, Luke and Paul,
Continue still this rest to call
The 'Sabbath day', this answers all:
'It's Jewish.'

The good news teacher's plain expression,
That " Sin is of the law's transgression,"
Seems not to make the least impression--
'It's Jewish.'

They love the rest of man's invention,
But if the L-RD's day we mention,
This puts an end to all contention:
'It's Jewish.'

O ye who thus G-D's day abuse,
Simply because 'twas kept by Jews,
The Saviour, too, you must refuse,
He's Jewish.

The Scriptures, then, we may expect
For the same reason you'll reject;
For if you will but recollect,
They're Jewish.

Thus the apostles, too, must fall;
For Andrew, Peter, James, and Paul,
Thomas, Matthew, John, and all
Were Jewish.

So to your helpless state resign
Yourself in wretchedness to pine;
Salvation, surely you'll decline,
It's Jewish.

One Hundred and One Bible Facts on the Sabbath Question

Why keep the Sabbath day? What is the object of the Sabbath? Who made it? When was it made, and for whom? Which day is the true Sabbath? Many keep the first day of the week, or Sunday. What Bible authority have they for this? Some keep the seventh day, or Saturday. What Scripture have they for that? Here are the facts about both days, as plainly stated in the Word of God:

And by the way, when you have a few verses that speak on a certain topic in Scripture in the exact same way, you have truth. The "Line upon line, precept upon precept.." method of Isaiah chapter 28 is how a doctrine is verified. But what ifg you have over 100 verses that speak the same truth? All in all, there are actually 112 verses in the Word of God that speak of the 7th day Sabbath. When you have 4 or 5 verses you have truth. When you have over 100, you have absolute truth!

A Widely overlooked FACT is, the Sabbath is here.
Before sin...    Genesis 2:2-3
After sin...       Exodus 20:3-17
After Christ...  Hebrews 4:4,8,9
In Heaven...    Isaiah 66:23-24

Sixty Bible Facts Concerning the Seventh Day

1. After working the first six days of the week in creating this earth, the great God rested on the seventh day. (Genesis 2:1-3)

2. This stamped that day as God's rest day, or Sabbath day, as Sabbath day means rest day. To illustrate: When a person is born on a certain day, that day thus becomes his birthday. So when God rested upon the seventh day, that day became His rest, or Sabbath, day.

3. Therefore the seventh day must always be God's Sabbath day. Can you change your birthday from the day on which you were born to one on which you were not born? No. Neither can you change God's rest day to a day on which He did not rest. Hence the seventh day is still God's Sabbath day.

4. The Creator blessed the seventh day. (Genesis 2:3)

5. He sanctified the seventh day. (Exodus 20:11)

6. He made it the Sabbath day in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 2:1-3)

7. It was made before the fall; hence it is not a type, for types were not introduced till after the fall.

8. Jesus says it was made for man (Mark 2:27), that is, for the race, as the word man is here unlimited; hence, for the Gentile as well as the Jew.

9. It is a memorial of creation. (Exodus 20:11; 31:17) Every time we rest upon the seventh day, as God did at creation, we commemorate that grand event.>

10. It was given to Adam, the head of the human race. (Mark 2:27; Genesis 2:1-3)

11. Hence through him, as our representative, to all nations. (Acts 17:26)

12. It is not a Jewish institution, for it was made 2,300 years before ever there was a Jew.

13. The Bible never calls it the Jewish Sabbath, but always "the Sabbath of the Lord thy God." Men should be cautious how they stigmatize God's holy rest day.

14. Evident reference is made to the Sabbath and the seven-day week all through the patriarchal age. (Genesis 2:1-3; 8:10, 12; 29:27, 28, etc.)

15. It was a part of God's law before Sinai. (Exodus 16:4, 27-29)

16. Then God placed it in the heart of His moral law. (Exodus 20:1-17) Why did He place it there if it was not like the other nine precepts, which all admit to be immutable?

17. The seventh-day Sabbath was commanded by the voice of the living God. (Deuteronomy 4:12, 13)

18. Then He wrote the commandment with His own finger. (Exodus 31:18)

19. He engraved it in the enduring stone, indicating its imperishable nature. (Deuteronomy 5:22)

20. It was sacredly preserved in the ark in the holy of holies. (Deuteronomy 10:1-5)

21. God forbade work upon the Sabbath, even in the most hurrying times. (Exodus 34:21)

22. God destroyed the Israelites in the wilderness because they profaned the Sabbath. (Ezekiel 20:12, 13)

23. It is the sign of the true God, by which we are to know Him from false gods. (Ezekiel 20:20)

24. God promised that Jerusalem should stand forever if the Jews would keep the Sabbath. (Jeremiah 17:24, 25)

25. He sent them into the Babylonish captivity for breaking it. (Nehemiah 13:18)

26. He destroyed Jerusalem for its violation. (Jeremiah 17:27)

27. God has pronounced a special blessing on all the Gentiles who will keep it. (Isaiah 56:6, 7)

28. This is in the prophecy which refers wholly to the Christian dispensation. (See Isaiah 56)

29. God has promised to bless all who keep the Sabbath. (Isaiah 56:2)

30. The Lord requires us to call it "honourable." (Isaiah 58:13) Beware ye who take delight in calling it the "Jewish Sabbath," "a yoke of bondage," etc.

31. After the holy Sabbath has been trodden down "many generations," it is to be restored in the last days. (Isaiah 58:12, 13)

32. All the holy prophets kept the seventh day.

33. When the Son of God came, He kept the seventh day all His life. (Luke 4:16; John 15:10) Thus He followed His Father's example at creation. Shall we not be safe in following the example of both the Father and the Son?

34. The seventh day is the Lord's day. (See Revelation 1:10; Mark 2:28; Isaiah 58:13; Exodus 20:10)

35. Jesus was Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28), that is, to love and protect it, as the husband is the lord of the wife, to love and cherish her (1 Peter 3:6).

36. He vindicated the Sabbath as a merciful institution designed for man's good. (Mark 2:23-28)

37. Instead of abolishing the Sabbath, He carefully taught how it should be observed. (Matthew 12:1-13)

38. He taught His disciples that they should do nothing upon the Sabbath day but what was "lawful." (Matthew 12:12)

39. He instructed His apostles that the Sabbath should be prayerfully regarded forty years after His resurrection. (Matthew 24:20)

40. The pious women who had been with Jesus carefully kept the seventh day after His death. (Luke 23:56)

41.Thirty years after Christ's resurrection, the Holy Spirit expressly calls it "the sabbath day." (Acts 13:14)

42. Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, called it the "sabbath day" in A.D. 45. (Acts 13:27) Did not Paul know? Or shall we believe modern teachers, who affirm that it ceased to be the Sabbath at the resurrection of Christ?

43. Luke, the inspired Christian historian, writing as late as A.D. 62, calls it the "sabbath day." (Acts 13:44)

44. The Gentile converts called it the Sabbath. (Acts 13:42)

45. In the great Christian council, A.D. 49, in the presence of the apostles and thousands of disciples, James calls it the "sabbath day." (Acts 15:21)

46. It was customary to hold prayer meetings upon that day. (Acts 16:13)

47. Paul read the Scriptures in public meetings on that day. (Acts 17:2, 3)

48. It was his custom to preach upon that day. (Acts 17:2, 3)

49. The Book of Acts alone gives a records of his holding eighty-four meetings upon that day. (See Acts 13:14, 44; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4, 11)

50. There was never any dispute between the Christians and the Jews about the Sabbath day. This is proof that the Christians still observed the same day that the Jews did.

51. In all their accusations against Paul, they never charged him with disregarding the Sabbath day. Why did they not, if he did not keep it?

52. But Paul himself expressly declared that he had kept the law. "Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all." Acts 25:8. How could this be true if he had not kept the Sabbath?

53. The Sabbath is mentioned in the New Testament fifty-nine times, and always with respect, bearing the same title it had in the Old Testament, "the sabbath day."

54. Not a word is said anywhere in the new Testament about the Sabbath's being abolished, done away, changed, or anything of the kind.

55. God has never given persmission to any man to work upon it. Reader, by what authority do you use the seventh day for common labor?

56. No Christian of the New Testament, either before or after the resurrection, ever did ordinary work upon the seventh day. Find one case of that kind, and we will yield the question. Why should modern Christians do differently from Bible Christians?

57. There is no record that God has ever removed His blessing or sanctification from the seventh day.

58. As the Sabbath was kept in Eden before the fall, so it will be observed eternally in the new earth after the restitution. (Isaiah 66:22, 23)

59. The seventh-day Sabbath was an important part of the law of God, as it came from His own mouth, and was written by His own finger upon stone at Sinai. (See Exodus 20.) When Jesus began His work, He expressly declared that He had not come to destroy the law. "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets." Matthew 5:17.

60. Jesus severely condemned the Pharisees as hypocrites for pretending to love God, while at the same time they made void one of the Ten Commandments by their tradition. The keeping of Sunday is only a tradition of man.

Forty One Bible Facts Concerning the First Day of the Week

1. The very first thing recorded in the Bible is work done on Sunday, the first day of the week. (Genesis 1:1-5) This was done by the Creator Himself. If God made the earth on Sunday, can it be wicked for us to work on Sunday?

2. God commands men to work upon the first day of the week. (Exodus 20:8-11) Is it wrong to obey God?

3. None of the patriarchs ever kept it.

4. None of the holy prophets ever kept it.

5. By the express command of God, His holy people used the first day of the week as a common working day for 4,000 years, at least.

6. God Himself calls it a "working" day. (Ezekiel 46:1)

7. God did not rest upon it.

8. He never blessed it.

9. Christ did not rest upon it.

10. Jesus was a carpenter (Mark 6:3), and worked at His trade until He was thirty years old. He kept the Sabbath and worked six days in the week, as all admit. Hence He did many a hard day's work on Sunday.

11. The apostles worked upon it during the same time.

12. The apostles never rested upon it.

13. Christ never blessed it.

14. It has never been blessed by any divine authority.

15. It has never been sanctified.

16. No law was ever given to enforce the keeping of it, hence it is no transgression to work upon it. "Where no law is, there is no transgression." Romans 4:15. (See also 1 John 3:4.)

17. The New Testament nowhere forbids work to be done on it.

18. No penalty is provided for its violation.

19. No blessing is promised for its observance.

20. No regulation is given as to how it ought to be observed. Would this be so if the Lord wished us to keep it?

21. It is never called the Christian Sabbath

22. It is never called the Sabbath day at all.

23. It is never called the Lord's day.

24. It is never called even a rest day.

25 No sacred title whatever is applied to it. Then why should we call it holy?

26. It is simply called "the first day of the week."

27. Jesus never mentioned it in any way, never took its name upon His lips, so far as the record shows.

28. The word Sunday never occurs in the Bible at all.

29. Neither God, Christ, nor inspired men ever said one word in favor of Sunday as a holy day.

30. The first day of the week is mentioned only eight times in all the New Testament. (Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2, 9; Luke 24:1; John 20:1, 19; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2)

31. Six of these texts refer to the same first day of the week.

32 Paul directed the saints to look over their secular affairs on that day. (1 Corinthians 16:2)

33. In all the New testament we have a record of only one religious meeting held upon that day, and even this was a night meeting. (Acts 20:5-12)

34. There is not an intimation that they ever held a meeting upon it before or after that.

35. It was not their custom to meet on that day.

36. There was no requirement to break bread on that day.

37. We have an account of only one instance in which it was done. (Acts 20:7)

38. That was done in the night-after midnight. (Verses 7-11) Jesus celebrated it on Thursday evening (Luke 22), and the disciples sometimes did it every day (Acts 2:42-46).

39. The Bible nowhere says that the first day of the week commemorates the resurrection of Christ. This is a tradition of men, which contradicts the law of God. (Matthew 15:1-9) Baptism commemorates the burial and resurrection of Jesus. (Romans 6:3-5)

40. The New Testament is totally silent with regard to any change of the Sabbath day or any sacredness for the first day.

41. Finally, looking to the Jew that sought out EVERY avenue of attack against the Apostles. The New Testament is completely silent in regards to the Jews ever coming against the Apostles for breaking the Sabbath by worshipping on Sunday.

Here are one hundred plain Bible facts upon this question, showing conclusively that the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord in both the Old and New Testament -Review and Herald Publishing assc. The CHART OF THE WEEK, is over a hundred years old. It is extremely valuable and almost impossible to find today.  Dr. William Meade Jones lived over a hundred years ago, and was a well-known London, England, research expert. He discovered in his studies that the Seventh-day Sabbath was the only weekly Sabbath ever commanded by God in the Bible.  Jones decided that, since Scripture clearly shows that the Bible Sabbath was first given to mankind at end of Creation Week, --If Genesis 2:1-3 is really true, then two important facts would have had to be known throughout the ancient world: First, a fixing of the seven-day weekly cycle on a world-wide basis, and second, an ancient world-wide knowledge of the Seventh-day Sabbath.  Jones was convinced of this for several reasons:  1. Adam and Noah were both earnest worshipers of God and would therefore have been faithful Sabbath keepers.  2. They would have taught their descendents about the Bible Sabbath, who would be aware of its original sacredness.  3. The truth that God is to be worshiped on the seventh of each seven-day week, requires a seven-day week, even though they may have later turned to idols and left the worship of the True God.  4. Therefore, as the descendents of Adam and Noah spread out all over the world, they would have carried with them these two important facts: Each week has seven days, and the seventh day of the week is the holy Sabbath given by God to mankind.  Even though many of Adam's and Noah's descendents would become scoffers, Jones reasoned, all of them would still carry with them the twin truths of the six-day Creation Week, of Genesis 1 (by their keeping of the seven-day weekly cycle, and the Seventh-day Sabbath by naming the seventh day of the week in their language as the day of Sabbath rest).  William Mead Jones decided that if Genesis 1 and 2 were really true, and that if God really created the world in six days and then rested on the Seventh day, then a majority of the languages of the world would prove the fact! And this, in turn, would be a powerful proof, not only that the Seventh day (and not the first) was the true Sabbath of God, but also a dramatic proof that Genesis 1 and 2 are genuine, and that God is our Creator!  Thinking about both of these facts is stunning in the light of the abundance of corroborating evidence given on this amazing chart that proves them to be true!

E.J. Waggoner stated:

"In this we find, what is most natural, that the same Being who created, rested. He who worked six days in creating the earth, rested on the seventh, and blessed and sanctified it. But we have already learned that God the Father created the worlds by His Son Jesus Christ, and that Christ created everything that has an existence. Therefore the conclusion is inevitable that Christ rested on that first seventh day, at the close of the six days of creation, and that He blessed and sanctified it. Thus the seventh day--the Sabbath--is most emphatically the Lord's day. When Jesus said to the carping Pharisees, "For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath-day" (Matt. 12:8), He declared his lordship of the identical day which they so scrupulously observed in form; and He did this in words which show that He regarded it as His badge of authority, as demonstrating the fact that He was greater than the temple. Thus, the seventh day is the Divinely-appointed memorial of creation. It is the most honored of all days, since its especial mission is to bring to mind the creative power of God, which is the one proof to man of His Divinity And so when Christ said that the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath-day, He claimed a high distinction--nothing less than being the Creator, of whose divinity that day stands as a memorial. p. 32, Para. 1, -Christ and His righteousness."

E. G. White Speaks on how the Sabbath was changed to Sunday

Satan well knew that the Holy Scriptures would enable men to discern his deceptions and withstand his power. It was by the word that even the Saviour of the world had resisted his attacks. At every assault, Christ presented the shield of eternal truth, saying, "It is written." To every  suggestion of the adversary, He opposed the wisdom and power of the word. In order for Satan to maintain his sway over men, and establish the authority of the papal usurper, he must keep them in ignorance of the Scriptures. The Bible would exalt God and place finite men in their true position; therefore its sacred truths must be concealed and suppressed. This logic was adopted by the Roman Church. For hundreds of years the circulation of the Bible was prohibited. The people were forbidden to read it or to have it in their houses, and unprincipled priests and prelates interpreted its teachings to sustain their pretensions. Thus the pope came to be almost universally acknowledged as the vicegerent of God on earth, endowed with authority over church and state.

The detector of error having been removed, Satan worked according to his will. Prophecy had declared that the papacy was to "think to change times and laws." Daniel 7:25. This work it was not slow to attempt. To afford converts from heathenism a substitute for the worship of idols, and thus to promote their nominal acceptance of Christianity, the adoration of images and relics was gradually introduced into the Christian worship. The decree of a general council (see Appendix) finally established this system of idolatry. To complete the sacrilegious work, Rome presumed to expunge from the law of God the second commandment, forbidding image worship, and to divide the tenth commandment, in order to preserve the number.

The spirit of concession to paganism opened the way for a still further disregard of Heaven's authority. Satan, working through unconsecrated leaders of the church, tampered with the fourth commandment also, and essayed to set aside the ancient Sabbath, the day which God had blessed and sanctified (Genesis 2:2, 3), and in its stead to exalt the festival observed by the heathen as "the venerable day of the sun." This change was not at first attempted openly. In the first centuries the true Sabbath had been kept by all Christians. They were jealous for the honor of God, and, believing that His law is immutable, they zealously guarded the sacredness of its precepts. But with great subtlety Satan worked through his agents to bring about his object. That the attention of the people might be called to the Sunday, it was made a festival in honor of the resurrection of Christ. Religious services were held upon it; yet it was regarded as a day of recreation, the Sabbath being still sacredly observed.

To prepare the way for the work which he designed to accomplish, Satan had led the Jews, before the advent of Christ, to load down the Sabbath with the most rigorous exactions, making its observance a burden. Now, taking advantage of the false light in which he had thus caused it to be regarded, he cast contempt upon it as a Jewish institution. While Christians generally continued to observe the Sunday as a joyous festival, he led them, in order to show their hatred of Judaism, to make the Sabbath a fast, a day of sadness and gloom.

In the early part of the fourth century the emperor Constantine issued a decree making Sunday a public festival throughout the Roman Empire. (See Appendix.) The day of the sun was reverenced by his pagan subjects and was honored by Christians; it was the emperor's policy to unite the conflicting interests of heathenism and Christianity. He was urged to do this by the bishops of the church, who, inspired by ambition and thirst for power, perceived that if the same day was observed by both Christians and heathen, it would promote the nominal acceptance of Christianity by pagans and thus advance the power and glory of the church. But while many God-fearing Christians were gradually led to regard Sunday as possessing a degree of sacredness, they still held the true Sabbath as the holy of the Lord and observed it in obedience to the fourth commandment.

The archdeceiver had not completed his work. He was resolved to gather the Christian world under his banner and to exercise his power through his vicegerent, the proud pontiff who claimed to be the representative of Christ. Through half-converted pagans, ambitious prelates, and world-loving churchmen he accomplished his purpose. Vast councils were held from time to time, in which the dignitaries of the church were convened from all the world. In nearly every council the Sabbath which God had instituted was pressed down a little lower, while the Sunday was correspondingly exalted. Thus the pagan festival came finally to be honored as a divine institution, while the Bible Sabbath was pronounced a relic of Judaism, and its observers were declared to be accursed.

The great apostate had succeeded in exalting himself "above all that is called God, or that is worshiped." 2 Thessalonians 2:4. He had dared to change the only precept of the divine law that unmistakably points all mankind to the true and living God. In the fourth commandment, God is revealed as the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and is thereby distinguished from all false gods. It was as a memorial of the work of creation that the seventh day was sanctified as a rest day for man. It was designed to keep the living God ever before the minds of men as the source of being and the object of reverence and worship. Satan strives to turn men from their allegiance to God, and from rendering obedience to His law; therefore he directs his efforts especially against that commandment which points to God as the Creator.

Protestants now urge that the resurrection of Christ on Sunday made it the Christian Sabbath. But Scripture evidence is lacking. No such honor was given to the day by Christ or His apostles. The observance of Sunday as a Christian institution had its origin in that "mystery of lawlessness" (2 Thessalonians 2:7, R.V.) which, even in Paul's day, had begun its work. Where and when did the Lord adopt this child of the papacy? What valid reason can be given for a change which the Scriptures do not sanction?  -The Great Controversy pages 51-54

"The Lord has clearly defined the road to the city of God; but the great apostate has changed the signpost, setting up a false one--a spurious sabbath. He says: "I will work at cross-purposes with God. I will empower my delegate, the man of sin, to take down God's memorial, the seventh-day Sabbath. Thus will I show the world that the day sanctified and blessed by God has been changed. That day shall not live in the minds of the people. I will obliterate the memory of it. I will place in its stead a day bearing not the credentials of heaven, a day that cannot be a sign between God and His people. I will lead the people who accept this day, to place upon it the sanctity that God placed upon the seventh day. Through my vicegerent I will exalt myself. The first day shall be extolled, and the Protestant world shall receive this spurious sabbath as genuine. Through the non-observance of the Sabbath God instituted, I will bring His law into contempt. The words, 'A sign between me and you throughout your generations,' I will make to serve on the side of my sabbath. Thus the world will become mine. I will be ruler of the earth, prince of the world. I will so control the minds under my power that God's Sabbath shall be an object of contempt. A sign? I will make the observance of the seventh day a sign of disloyalty to the authorities of earth. Human laws shall be made so stringent that men and women will not dare to observe the seventh-day Sabbath. For fear of wanting food and clothing, they will join with the world in transgressing God's law; and the earth will be wholly under my dominion."

The man of sin has instituted a false sabbath, and the professed Christian world has adopted this child of the papacy, refusing to obey God. Thus Satan leads men and women in a direction opposite to the city of refuge; and by the multitudes who follow him, it is demonstrated that Adam and Eve are not the only ones who have accepted the words of the wily foe.

The enemy of all good has turned the signpost round, so that it points to the path of disobedience as the path of happiness. He has insulted Jehovah by refusing to obey a "Thus saith the Lord." He has thought to change times and laws. (RH April 17, 1900)

Good Explanation by E. G. White regarding the Sabbath

     "Wherefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath." These words are full of instruction and comfort. Because the Sabbath was made for man, it is the Lord's day. It belongs to Christ. For "all things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made." John 1:3. Since He made all things, He made the Sabbath. By Him it was set apart as a memorial of the work of creation. It points to Him as both the Creator and the Sanctifier. It declares that He who created all things in heaven and in earth, and by whom all things hold together, is the head of the church, and that by His power we are reconciled to God. For, speaking of Israel, He said, "I gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them,"--make them holy. Ezekiel 20:12. Then the Sabbath is a sign of Christ's power to make us holy. And it is given to all whom Christ makes holy. As a sign of His sanctifying power, the Sabbath is given to all who through Christ become a part of the Israel of God.  {DA 288.2}

     And the Lord says, "If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable; . . . then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord." Isaiah 58:13, 14. To all who receive the Sabbath as a sign of Christ's creative and redeeming power, it will be a delight. Seeing Christ in it, they delight themselves in Him. The Sabbath points them to the works of creation as an evidence of His mighty power in redemption. While it calls to mind the lost peace of Eden, it tells of peace restored through the Saviour. And every object in nature repeats His invitation, "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28.  {DA 289.1}

Didn't Colossians 2:14-17 abolish the Sabbath 2000 years ago?

Many claim the feast days that were abolished at the cross (Col. 2) include the Sabbath of the Lord.

  • Colossians 2:14-17, "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.  Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:  Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."

We know the feast days were called "Sabbaths" as well because of Leviticus 23:23-38 and other areas in the Old Testament calling them as such. This is no doubt where the confusion comes in with the above passage from Colossians chapter two. Still, we can use this truth to expose the error with a few simple questions...

  • Q. When were the feast days ratified?
  • A. At Mt. Sinai by the sprinkling of the blood of an ox.
  • Q. Why was there a need for them?
  • A. Because of sin.
  • Q. When was the sin to be destroyed, and the feast days abolished?
  • A. At Calvary
  • Q. So, the feast days of Leviticus 23 were done away with at the cross because Jesus said "it is finished" right?
  • A. Correct
  • Q. When was the seventh day Sabbath instituted?
  • A. On day seven in the Garden of Eden, BEFORE SIN CAME into the world.

So, if the seventh day Sabbath was instituted BEFORE sin came, how can it be abolished at the cross along with the feast days?

Can't I just keep ONE DAY IN SEVEN to please God?

Some declare that they can keep any day as Sabbath as long as it's within a seven day period. In other words, it doesn't matter what day we call Sabbath and rest on, as long as we do it one day each week.

Do you recall when God told Adam and Eve not to eat of a particular tree in the garden? Not only was the tree good for food, like all the other trees, its fruit was lovely to look upon according to Genesis 3:6.

  • Genesis 3:6, "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."

My point is, the tree was not poisonous. It was actually "good for food" just like all the other trees in that garden of abundance. Surely the eating of fruit from one tree would be no different than the eating of another, right? But the Lord specifically said in Genesis 2:17, "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it." The Lord Himself could have picked any tree He wanted because it was a test of loyalty unto man towards God. In other words, it wasn't up to Adam or Even which tree they could or could not eat from. The Lord said don't eat or touch of that tree lest ye die, and it was up to them to show their loyalty to Him in obedience. Does this seem logical? Not at all to those with eyes clouded by sin as we all are. The fruit was obviously "good for food" as far as we can see. The truth here is that "not" eating of it was a test of loyalty and trust towards God by Adam and Eve when they obeyed. Nothing more, nothing less! Why then would anyone want to keep Sabbath on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or any other day of the week when the Lord Himself specifically said to keep day Seven holy? Yes, all the others days look just as worthy as Saturday for going to church as far as we can see. But we have a thus saith the Lord here just like Adam and Eve did.

"Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live." -Jeremiah 38:20

12 Excuses some Give the Break Sabbath

Excuse 1. It is inconvenient to keep the seventh day.

Answer. (Matthew 16:24.) "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Chap 10:38; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23; 14:27.

Excuse 2. I have a family to support; it will interfere with my business.

Answer. (Matthew 16:25, 26.) "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Chap 6:24, 31-33; Luke 12:15-37; 1 Timothy 4:8; Psalm 37:3; Isaiah 65:13, 14.

Excuse 3. Everybody keeps the first day.

Answer. (Matthew 7:13, 14.) "Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because, strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Proverbs 11:21; 16:5.

Excuse 4. Many learned men teach that it is right.

Answer. (Hosea 10:13.) "Ye have ploughed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men." 1 Corinthians 1:25-27; Revelation 18:23.

Excuse 5. We are unlearned, and must look to them for instruction.

Answer. (Proverbs 19:27.) "Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge." 2 Timothy 3:1-7.

Excuse 6. The laws of our country enforce it.

Answer. (Acts 4:19.) "Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. Chap 5:29; Daniel 3:16-18; 6:10.

Excuse 7. It causes trouble and division.

Answer. (Luke 12:51, 52.) "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division. For from henceforth there shall be five, in one house divided, three against two, and two against three." Verse 49; Matthew 10:34-37; John 15:19; 17:14; 1 Kings 18:17, 18.

Excuse 8. I should lose my influence and bring reproach.

Answer. (Matthew 5:11, 12.) "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in Heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Luke 6:22, 23, 26; 1 John 4:5.

Excuse 9. It makes no difference what day I keep, if I keep it right

Answer. (Exodus 20:9, 10.) "Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work." Matthew 15:3, 9. To keep any day right is to keep it as God's law directs; otherwise his law is not right. To keep every day rightis to work on the first six and rest the seventh.

Excuse 10. I am afraid of new doctrines.

Answer. (Exodus 20:11.) "In six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it." Genesis 2, 3.

Excuse 11. I do not think these old laws are binding.

Answer. (Jeremiah 6:16.) "Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." Chap 18:15.

Excuse 12. The apostle teaches that old things are passed away.

Answer. (2 Corinthians 5:17.) "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new." The "old man" of sin must pass away. Then the man becomes new-not the law.

  • Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14. "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into Judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."
  • Revelation 22:14. "Blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

"The word of the Lord endureth forever."
